点评：We had a rental car and drove into Ghent on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 and stayed two nights in the heart of city center. Being aware of it being a low emission zone, we inquired about parking. Generally, if not a small car or EV, you need a permit to drive there. We did have a small car, but did not know if a permit was needed. We easily found an underground parking ramp just outside the low emission zone, a 5 minute walk from our hotel. Low emission zones are becoming quite common in old European cities, so if driving you really need to know this information.
We loved Ghent! It is a city with a lot of young people due to the universities. Great for walking and exploring, So much to do here, canal boats rides, live music night clubs, the castle, the gardens, the sculptures, museums, great beer, cool restaurants and fascinating history. We highly recommend Ghent to be one of your travel destinations.
