点评：What a magical window into the history of this tiny community. The resident archaeologist is on hand to demonstrate her conservation methods, offering a close-up look at some of this year's 10,000+ finds, from the filigree of an Elizabeth I coin imprinted in wood to a cache of wampum beads. The guided site tour is a feast for the senses: eyes tracing the woven wattle fences that corral a vegetable garden exploding with cabbages, ears lulled by the surf sussurating over the rocks wreathing Isle du Bois, noses arrested by the fragrant Gentleman's Garden, toes tripping along the smooth cobblestones open to the sun once again after centuries of sleep. Lulu leads us along as she weaves personal reminiscences growing up in Ferryland with documented history of the colony and recently unearthed evidence of Beothuk habitation. I'm looking forward to returning in June for to join the student archaeologists for a day on the dig!
