August may not be the best time for a visit
Mirror Lake State Park的点评
点评：There is a state park fee to visit Mirror Lake. There is a very small visitor center with restrooms and mounted animals and a few things to purchase. You purchase your pass here at the window or you can go inside.
Echo Rock seems to be the main attraction here. The normal trailhead is under construction at the moment, so to get to the trail, you need to go to Cliffwood campground and park between spots 127-128 where there is an overflow lot. Follow the trail that takes you to the overlook. At the overlook, drop down on the trail that goes to the right. You will see the path to Echo Rock and can walk all around it. Then you can head back the way you came or go to the left and circle back. This takes less than a half hour. There is a supper club across the river, so you aren’t really immersed in nature, but they did play “Sweet Caroline” while we were there, so there’s that.
Pulpit rock and Fern Dell Gorge are other trails that are recommended, but I’d save those for spring or fall when you have either an unobstructed view or pretty fall colors. Our stop was in August and the view at Pulpit Rock is very obstructed and the path down to the Fern Dell Gorge is very overgrown.
There are lots of mosquitoes and we carried our bug spray with us to just continually spray.
We had considered kayaking, but Mirror Lake is less a mirror and more like a algae collection.
The Lakeview Trail is pretty, even in August. It takes about 10 minutes.
For the best experience, I would say August is not the time to come.
