点评:Alibates National Quarry is a National Park. The indigenous people use Alibate to make their arrow heads and tools! There is a visitor center that you visit first. You must make reservations to visit the Alibate Quarry. You do not need reservations to visit the visitors center. The visitors center has a nice little museum that shows the history of the indigenous peoples who mined the Alibate rocks! There is an also a nice little gift store! Tours start at 10 am. There is a brief presentation at the visitors center of the history, rules and what to expect at the Quarry! The Quarry visit is free but you need a reservation. After the presentation at the visitors center we all followed the park ranger to the Alibate Quarry location in our vehicles which is a short drive! The quarry is a decent hike up the hill. Our kiddos were able to make the trip without any worries! There are lots of stairs, the ranger explained the history and points at certain rocks along the route! Visitors are not allowed to touch or pick up rocks along the route. If you go in the summer take water and head covers, use sun block because it gets really hot! It is a nice park if you are interested in geological history and or Indigenous peoples history! Also their phones at visitor center were not working at the time we visited and they were trying to figure out how to fix their landlines. So if you call to make a reservation you might not be able to reach someone!
