点评:The Abbey is a National Trust property situated in an unspoilt village also owned by the Trust. The Abbey itself goes back to the Middle Ages but was turned into a home in Tudor times. The grounds are lovely including a walled botanic garden, woods and areas where wild garlic grew. It had designated pathways for walkers. There was also a museum and gallery largely devoted to the history of photography.
There was a public car park outside the Abbey.
The interior had many different exhibitions about the people who lived there.
The volunteer guides were very engaging and knowledgeable about the historic site. There is a courtyard cafe within the Abbey although this was closed when we visited. There is however another cafe near the entrance to the Abbey in the village. Visiting the Abbey is highly recommended.
