点评:A total rip-off charged $5 to enter the park. However, the entrance is just before the Smith's grotto boat tour and paradise garden. These are the only 2 things that I wanted to visit and it was only on arrival that I learned that I had to pay $5 to enter a National Park I didn't even know existed until I went there. The park is large and goes well beyond the 2 attractions I visited, which are at the entrance.
Another interesting fact they do not charge this to Hawaiian residents. They get the most use out of it, but only those of us who travel from far have to pay, not sure how that works. Actually, I do. We don't get a vote or say in the running of the State of Hawaii, so we can be rinsed for as much cash as possible.
I asked the member of staff on paying what I get for my money. The answer was entrance. That says it all. It's basically another tax, ss I then immediately had to pay for the tour and the gardens. Obviously, I can afford it but it's such poor value for money and divisive (resident vs tourist) and given how quiet it was can't imagine it raises much.
