点评:My wife and I visited Kvernes Stave Church on a coach excursion during a cruise visit to Molde. I didn't really know much about stave churches before this trip but I found it fascinating. This is the only stave church in Norway built after the Middle Ages, dating from the early 1630s. The inside walls are all painted and are beautiful. The altarpiece pre-dates the rest of the church and is from 1475.
We had a guide explain about the church's history and talk about some interesting legends on why the church was built the way it was. Apparently it was only recently they were able to date the materials in the church as being 17th Century as they had originally assumed it was much older. There is a small parking area next to the church and the more modern church that sits next to this one has toilet facilities. I really enjoyed my stop here.
