Not worth the hassle if the ranger incorrectly issues a citation even though you paid the parking fee
Devil's Backbone Nature Trail的点评
点评：The view is ok, though nothing compared to views you'll get at Rocky Mountain National Park. If you aren't a local, I don't recommend Devil's Backbone. Here are the reasons for my low rating (and why I wish we'd never gone to Devil's Backbone):
1. Materials received at the/a Colorado welcome center incorrectly indicated Devil's Backbone was a free activity. The park actually has a fee of $10. You follow a QR code on a sign to go thru the payment process (have to provide your name, phone #, email, address and credit card info.) You receive only digital confirmation.
2. We paid the $10. Nonetheless, when we returned from the hike to the keyhole, there was a citation ticket on our car. I called, and the person on the phone could see I'd paid, but couldn't fix the issue.
3. Though the error was the ranger's, the fixing of the error is entirely on you: ie you must send a letter within a limited time to dispute the citation OR drive about a 10 mile round trip to the boonies to the office of natural resources to get that office to void the citation. Going in person must also be done in a limited timeframe. So, either way it's going to mess with your vacation. Not worth the view or the hassle.
4. The Benson sculpture garden was free and very pretty and tranquil. I recommend you go there, and go to Rocky Mountain National Park for hikes and views.
