Fantastic small museum with superb coastal views too!
Senhouse Roman Museum的点评
点评：Maryport itself is not as desolate and run down as I was led to believe when we visited as a family for the harbour, aquarium and the Roman museum (Senhouse).
I had visions of somewhere like Withernsea - a decaying isolated crime riddled backwater but it wasn't so bad. Seen a lot worse.
We made the drive to the cliff top to the Roman museum where there is a small car park and a disabled parking area too.
The museum is small, consisting of two rooms - one containing most of the exhibits / artefacts and the other a bit of info about the town etc.
There is a viewing tower you can climb outside which gives superb views of the sea and town as well as being directly behind the field where the Roman pillars were found and excavated.
There are toilets here and a very small shop selling gifts and soft drinks.
I would very much recommend a visit here if in the area.
