点评:My husband and I spent 4 days camping at Honeyman State Park. The campground is very large - with hundreds of camp sites. Some are just for tents, some for RV's which include water and electric, and there are some with sewer as well as water and electric. T Since electric is available, you don't hear all of the generators like at some campgrounds. There are also a few sites for hikers and bikers. There are also 10 yurts. The prices of the camp sites vary by what is offered, as well as by season. Flush toilets with showers are in each section. There are camp hosts throughout the campground, and they keep the rest rooms clean. The yurts go very quickly, and need to be reserved first thing - as soon as registration is open.
The camp sites are usually quite close to each other, which is good for group camping, but not for privacy. We had several families camping, so it worked well for us. They are strict about only 2 vehicles to a camp site. If you have a visitor, they need to stop and get a visitors permit, letting them onw what site they are visiting. It is good for 4 hours.
From May 1 to September 30 it can be a bit loud at times. because it is close to Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Some of the OHV's are staying in the campground and drive by noisily. Quiet hours (10:00 pm to 7:00 am) are maintained well.
There are programs offered some evenings and weekends for children and adults. They have a Junior Ranger booklet to encourage children to learn about the outdoors. There is also one large playground in Circle E, near the Welcome Center. The Welcome center has a small store where you can buy ice or firewood. Children can also get stickers there.
In the park, there are 2 lakes. Lake Cleowax is nice, because it has a sandy bottom. It has sand dunes on 2 side, so there is a nice, sandy beach on those 2 sides. Sometimes the dunes are steep, and you can run or slide right into the lake. It is good for swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaks.
Lake Woahink is larger and the bottom is more slimy than sandy. It is good for boating and scuba diving. It is on the other side of Highway 101 from the campground and Cleowax Lake.
There are trails from the campground to both lakes. The one trail goes over the highway, and is sloped so you can walk or bike it. We enjoyed walking and biking the trails.
The Day Use areas have a $10.00 fee for the day for Oregon residents, and $12.00 a day for out of state residents. If you are camping at Honeyman, you can park at the Day Use areas without paying extra. Make sure your permit is hanging from your rear view mirror.
