点评:The Ries Crater Museum is a unique speciality museum situated at Eugene-Shoemaker-Platz. It is dedicated to planetary geology, meteorites and particularly the impact of the 1-km wide asteroid which collided with Earth and created the Ries crater nearly 15 million years ago.
The museum is open from 10am to 4.30pm daily, closed on Monday. Entry is €5 per adult and includes same-day entry to the nearby City Museum (Stadtmuseum). However, non-German speakers are provided a English language tablet at the ticket desk. These can be used through both floors of the museum for all displays.
We enjoyed the various displays and the Ries Crater impact film on the upper floor, really helped provide context related to the geological uniqueness of Nordlingen and the general surrounding area which all rests within the crater. Well worth 30-45 minutes of time for those planning to visit this lovely medieval town along the Romantic Route.
