点评:It was terrible experience. We are preservation va members. Understand that they are geared to tours but we were going through the area and did not have that much time or certainty as to when we would arrive. It said it was open but front door was locked. We walk around back. It is locked. Some lady comes out. Offers the tour and mentions the fee. Tell her we are members (so no fee) but ask length of tour. She says 1hr. We are the only ones there...literally. I ask if we can just come inside as I
Understand the interior woodwork is great and we don't have an hour. She says No. She says we can walk to the fort if we want. Half a mile (in reality more than that). Points to a field. I clarify specifically that we are supposed to walk across the middle of the field and turn right at the trees. Basically she puts us on the wrong side of an electric fence. So we walk all that way and turn around and walk back because we were trapped. Clearly this lady has never gone to the site. As we come back I stop at the house expecting her again but there is a different gentleman. I tell him what happens. He tells me I misunderstood about coming inside that of course we could come inside and look and go to the gift shop. I did not misunderstand. He then offers to tell me how to walk back to the fort area. Of course by this point we would not bother. Tell him incompetence and lack of customer service is one thing but safety is a different level .
