点评:This was my third time visiting the cave. My first was 40 years ago, my second on a geology field trip and this last trip as part or the Potomac Eagle All Day Petersburg trip. First off there were too many people on our tour, all from the train, 42 in one group, not enjoyable. While the back part of the cave has numerous beautiful formations including stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws and flowstone, the rest of the cave is too man made. Many features have been put in place as a result of commercialization. Like many show caves, making a cave ready for non-cavers causes damage and the making of showmanship. This is excessive in this case. The lighting needs a total revamp. Harsh LED lighting is being used, wrong color temps. Lighting is very conspicuous as well. Better placement would help. The visitors center, while nice and 3 times the size it was 40 years, provides a seemingly endless supply of tacking tourist items.
For a first timer or someone looking to add to their show cave visitation list, this cave is one to see.
