点评:This review is for the Mercado de la Ribera as a tourist site only. Were I to review it as a place to buy fresh food, it would be a 5.
Much of Bilbao's current appearance stems from a massive flood in 1983. The market at that time was an attractive Victorian structure, but it was likely destroyed, along with many other buildings, at that time.
They've rebuilt it with modern equipment and stalls. That makes for a fresh, hygenic space which you would want if shopping here for, say, fresh fish or meats. It has less charm than, for example, the large historic market in Valencia or many other cities.
Note that different days may have different offerings. For example, the seafood booths are generally closed on Monday.
This was an interesting walk-through and the exterior is appealing, but we spent less than an hour here.
