点评:Royalton Grenada – Definitely Not the 5-Star Experience We Paid For
What a disappointment. The Royalton Grenada looks like a 5-star resort, but unfortunately the service and overall experience were nowhere near 5-star. In fact, at times it felt more like a 2-star hotel pretending to be 5-star.
We paid over US$400 per night for what was supposed to be an all-inclusive experience, so we expected a reasonable choice of restaurants, good service and basic standards. What we experienced was anything but that.
The biggest issue was the food. The resort’s main buffet restaurant, Gourmet Marche, was closed, meaning we couldn't even access what should surely be a fundamental part of an all-inclusive resort.
We also couldn't access Taj, the Indian restaurant, or Armadillo, the French-inspired restaurant, because both had been booked for a wedding. That left us with Grazie Italian Trattoria as our main option, which meant there was very little choice for an all-inclusive resort charging over $400 a night.
If you are selling an all-inclusive package at this price, surely guests should actually be able to access the restaurants and facilities they have paid for?
The customer service was shocking
When we tried to complain, there was nobody at the front desk to deal with the issue. The whole situation was an absolute shambles.
What made it even more telling was that at least three other parties were also complaining at the same time. That should tell you everything you need to know about the level of service being provided.
The check-in process was also the longest check-in I have ever experienced at a hotel. After travelling and arriving at a supposedly 5-star resort, the last thing you expect is to spend an excessive amount of time simply trying to get checked in.
The bar service – another disappointment
The bar service wasn't much better. The staff appeared to struggle with making some very basic cocktails.
At one point they had run out of sweet vermouth, so there was no Negroni for me. At a 5-star all-inclusive resort, running out of a basic cocktail ingredient is disappointing enough, but it was just another example of the poor level of service we experienced.
And then there's the bizarre no-straw policy. Try drinking a Piña Colada from a tall glass without a straw. It's ridiculous. I understand the environmental reasons behind reducing plastic, but surely there are suitable environmentally friendly alternatives available. Having guests attempting to drink a thick cocktail from a tall glass without a straw is simply impractical.
Such massive disappointment we wont be back anytime soon.
