Amazing statue
Chinggis Khan Statue Complex的点评
点评：We booked a guided tour to take us here from the capital. We were picked up at 8am and arrived at the statue just before 9am to a) avoid the notorious UB traffic jams and b) avoid the crowds at the statue itself.
It's just off the main road and is a fairly new complex so there's plenty of space in the car park. As you'll see from my photos, getting there early was great as we didn't really have to queue much and meant we could take the photos we wanted without having lots of people in the way.
Once you've parked, you walk up a series of steps to the bottom of the statue which houses the complex. I can't confirm the price as it was included in our tour. Look out for the Guinness World Record certificate on the way in which confirms it as 'The world's tallest equestrian statue...'.
The complex is made up of four floors. On the ground floor is the main entrance, ticket office, coffee shop, golden whip, pictures of the Mongolian kings, the biggest Mongolian traditional boot, a souvenir shop and a place to rent traditional Mongolian costumes. The basement has a museum about the Mongolian empire, and then you can take the lift or the stairs up to the horse part of the statue.
The view from the statue is amazing - you can look back at Chinggis Khan and out across the Steppe at the gers and the beautiful landscape. The museum in the basement is also worth a look - there are some English explanations about the artefacts.
Overall, we were here about an hour, and when we left at 10am, the car park was starting to get full. It's a must do if you're in UB.
