Kandovan: Unique living rock village
Kandovan的点评
点评：Kandovan is one of those places that feels genuinely different. What I found most interesting was that, despite becoming a popular tourist destination and being recognized as one of the Best Tourism Villages by UN Tourism, it still feels like a living village rather than an open-air museum.
People still live in the traditional rock-cut homes, and you can see parts of their everyday life and local traditions. Some of the houses are open to visitors, and there are also several cave-style hotels and guesthouses if you want to stay overnight and experience the village more fully.
I also enjoyed seeing local products and herbs collected from the surrounding nature. The mountain setting makes the atmosphere especially pleasant, and even in summer the weather can be surprisingly cool.
Kandovan is around an hour from Tabriz, making it an easy and worthwhile day trip. I would definitely recommend spending more than just a quick hour there if you want to experience the village beyond its famous rock formations.
