Parks' Fly Shop的点评
点评：I took up fly fishing last year after my wife died and I quickly found that the beauty of the sport filled a profound emptiness in my life. I took an L.L.Bean fly casting course to get me started and after a summer of fly fishing in 2025, I was hooked. Over the course of last winter, I started building my stock of fly fishing equipment and began planning a new bucket list trip to the Yellowstone National Park for September 2026.
I didn't want to make the long trip from upstate New York without the use of a guide to help better prepare me for the Yellowstone river and so, I looked at the three major fly fishing guide services in Gardiner, Montana. For several months, I reviewed a large number of reviews. The problem, however, was that each guide service had equally outstanding reviews. In the end, I chose Parks Fly Shop mainly because they have been providing guide service longer than any other local shop.
I wasn't disappointed!
I could not have had a better experienced, more personable guide than Don! I opted for the wade service and we headed out to the Garner River over some exciting and beautiful terrain. All the way along the hike, Don not only was talking fishing, he also made me feel completely comfortable and relaxed as we approached our first stop.
First cast landed a fish! A beautiful brown trout that was much larger than anything that I had ever caught in upstate New York. If we quit then, I would have been satisfied. Over the course of the next few hours, I would land another four good-sized trout.
As much as I enjoyed catching the fish, that was only my secondary objective. My first being to "improve my fly fishing ability." Don ensured I attained great success in both objectives.
In addition to Don's coaching, I stopped into the Parks Fly Shop on several occasions and talked to several staff about locations to try and flies that were hot. The staff were extremely helpful and they truly seemed to get excited as I would relay the success that I was having fishing in the Park. I could have easily spent my week just talking to and sharing stories to Don and his fellow guides in the shop.
As I write this review, I am strongly considering another trip to the Yellowstone National Park for September 2027. I already know in my planning that my trip would not be complete next year without once again visiting and using my new friends in the Parks Fly Shop!
