点评:This review is about the FRONT mountain, as that’s the only part I went.
My first comment is the stupidity of making people pay 10 yuan to take their “scenic bus” to get to the proper entrance. I have been to several attractions in china and nowhere makes people pay to get to the entrance. Usually everything is paid upfront once and for all. Besides, there was absolutely nothing “scenic” about that ten minute ride.
Secondly, you want to note that everywhere is very commercialised with food stalls, souvenir shops, so-called specialty shops masquerading as “museums”. Even all the way right inside the shangqing temple are paid services for joss sticks, divination etc. Anyways I’m not exactly complaining as I myself patronised a F&B for lunch (KFC, which needs you to scan their QR in order to make orders, and then you get stuck at the payment page because it requires you to have a china-phone number to proceed).
Indeed there are nice Taoist temples for your visitation, but do NOT have too high expectations on the craftsmanship- especially if you have seen numerous other Asian temples such as those in Bhutan.
Yes, the mists over the mountains are pretty. Again, do not have too high expectations - especially if you have seen numerous other similar landscapes such as Zhangjiajie (which is considerably more breathtaking!!).
Moderate physical exertion required for this activity. Definitely not for those on wheelchairs.
