Treasure trove of electrical, radio history
SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention的点评
点评：This museum and the staff were AWESOME! Although there are plenty of things/demos middle aged kids will find super interesting this museum is an absolute treasure trove on the history of electricity, electronics, radio telephony and audio. We spent about 2 hours here. WAY too many cool things to mention but here is a small sample. (1) Demonstration of very early static electricity generation, (1” spark generator by hand crank) storage (Leyden jars) and several ways of measuring that electricity (2) Giant Tesla coils that are basically lightening generators and can power any nearby flourescent light bulbs even though they are unplugged -- this is a very cool and powerful demo (3) Working telegraph, including the related history of the Titanic and the founding of RCA by David Sarnoff (4) Many different types of crystal radios, including a working model of one using only a coil, a razor blade and some pencil lead (5) Original 1929 Theramin and a later one signed by Bob Moog you can play with (6) Van de Graff Generator demo that raises every hair on your head (7) Early telephony and switchboards. (8) Hand holding electricity demo – one person controls the electricity level and you see how much you can take lol. (8) Original phonograph cylinders (cylinder records) including one where you listen to a Teddy Roosevelt speech (everyone says the same thing lol --- I didn’t expect his voice to sound like that). This is a very tiny bit of everything that is there --- tons of old tube radios, the first ever toaster, old appliances and phones. I will definitely visit this museum again. Staff is great and super knowledgeable and there is honestly almost too many cool things to absorb in one 2 hour visit. I left with my brain completely full and happy.

（4）多种不同类型的晶体收音机，其中包括仅用一个线圈就能工作的模型一片剃须刀片和一些铅笔芯 (5) 一台1929年生产的原版特雷门琴，还有一台由鲍勃·穆格亲笔签名的现代版特雷门琴可供演奏 (6) 范德格拉夫发电机演示——能让头发全部竖起来的那种 (7) 早期电话技术与电话交换机。(8) 导电演示：一个人控制电流强度，你可以看看自己能承受多少电流，哈哈。（8）原始的留声机圆筒唱片，其中有一张可以听到泰迪·罗斯福的演讲内容（大家说的都差不多，哈哈——我没想到他的声音会是那样）。这里展示的只是所有藏品中的极小一部分而已——还有大量的老式电子管收音机、世界上第一台烤面包机，以及各种老式电器和电话机。我绝对会再次参观这座博物馆。工作人员非常友善且知识渊博；说实话，短短两小时的参观时间根本不足以让我看完所有有趣的展品。离开时，我的脑海里装满了内容，心情也格外愉悦。
