里拉修道院的点评
点评：This monastery is definitely worth a visit. In the middle of the courtyard stands the main church of the Holy Mother of God, decorated both inside and out with brightly colored frescoes. Finding the best angle for a great shot makes the courtyard a literal paradise for photographers. However, please note that taking pictures inside the church is prohibited, and video recording is not allowed anywhere on the monastery grounds.
I learned an interesting fact from our guide: there are only seven monks living in this entire, vast monastery. Five of them are quite elderly, and no new monks want to join them. The reason is that the monastery has become a very busy tourist spot, meaning they no longer have the peace and quiet they need for their meditation.
In the monastery area, you will find several souvenir shops. Just outside the main gate, there is a restaurant, an excellent bakery, and various stalls selling food, ice cream, and local crafts.
Finally, a useful tip for visitors: the water from all the drinking fountains here is completely safe to drink without any worries.
