A love, peaceful garden with a cafe and toilets

点评：We found these gardens to be a peaceful place in a busy world. There was a picnic area next to one of the car parks with three benches, suitable for families. There were also healthy looking plants for sale near to the hut where you paid your entrance fee. Payments were based on an honesty system which applied to all purchases across the site, including the cafe and small shop, it was help yourself and pay by cash, card or PayPal using an honesty system. We felt that it was lovely that we could be trusted to pay what was due without any pressure because no one was stood behind you to ensure that you had paid the right amount.
The gardens were full of different flowers and plants. It was very colourful and many of the plants were labelled. The medicinal garden was fascinating with a range of different plants, along with labels explaining their medicinal uses.
Some of the paths around the garden are steep in places but all are well surfaced. For those less active, there was a small gazebo where you could sit and look out over the garden
There was a clean, bright tearoom in the Bothy. Decaff coffee and tea was available along with a range of cakes, including some gluten free options. Seating was either inside or outside and there was a large covered area outside, complete with a wren's nest where the parent birds flew in and out to feed a little one, seemingly unaware that we were watching them closely.
We thought that we might only be an hour or so as the garden is shown as being quite small but we spent three hours there and it could have been longer but we needed to leave, due to other time pressures.
All in all, a very pleasant afternoon and we will certainly return in the near future.
