What a gem and well done the villagers

点评：What a great experience and totally unexpected. We expected to stay about an hour and stayed 2h 30min. Run by volunteers who remain in 17th Century character throughout, which adds to the experience. As a volunteer guide at a Portsmouth museum, who is not in character, I totally admired their characterisation and knowledge of the period. Log fires and plenty of smoke in the houses added to the atmosphere. All who we met had a 'backstory' and all stories connected with each other. Their puzzlement over what a camera is, a phone, a car, women wearing breeches etc was amusing and added to the suspension of disbelief and to the travel back in time. Only £7 entry fee and totally worth the charge. Two ladies at the ticket desk/shop very welcoming and set the Only open certain days of the year, so check the website. Characters will differ depending on when you visit. Free parking outside. Be aware that the ground is uneven though pathways have been made.
