TUI Skyla Magical Danube cruise, October 2026
多瑙河的点评
点评：We’ve just returned from an amazing seven day TUI Magical Danube cruise. We knew before we arrived that things might not go exactly to plan because of the low Danube water levels, but we still felt lucky to have the opportunity to enjoy this kind of holiday. We’d never been on a river cruise or visited these places before, so we were determined to make the most of it.
With the itinerary adapting as we went, it became more of a magical mystery trip -you never quite knew what tomorrow would look like! We were lucky to visit Bratislava, Vienna and Budapest, admittedly by coach, and also stop at Tulln, Krems, Linz and Melk along the river. The different cultures and architecture, along with the information shared by our guides, gave us some fond memories we’ll treasure.
We initially travelled alongside other TUI ships, which was a different experience. Sometimes another ship was moored right outside our French windows, so we couldn’t open them without looking straight into another cabin. This is apparently normal on river cruises. Later, we moved to a different dock from the other ships, so we had no problem with our room view. The change worked really well for us, though it was clear that the different arrangements were more disappointing for some guests.
Throughout the changes, the crew worked incredibly hard to make the best of a constantly shifting situation shaped by the river conditions, changing plans from head office and the different expectations and needs of guests.
A special thank you to our Cruise Director, Peer, who seemed to be everywhere, supporting guests and managing changes, questions and concerns with tremendous care, understanding and patience. We kept wondering whether he ever slept - he seemed to be available around the clock!
We’re also so grateful to Maria, Anna and Alex from the entertainment team. Their evening shows, singing and choreography were fantastic, and they were up early helping with excursions too. They brought so much energy and warmth to the week, with lovely extras from jewellery making to the silent disco.
The TUI Skyla is a lovely 5 star ship. Our room was an excellent size for a river boat, and Dona looked after it beautifully, keeping it tidy and ready whenever we returned. The food was plentiful and outstanding, beautifully presented too, with wonderful choices across both restaurants. A huge shout-out to the chefs and the exceptional waiting staff, including Zaw, who looked after us so well.
Phyo and Michael from the bar team were fantastic. They made us feel so welcome, mixed great cocktails and kept our glasses topped up. A special mention for Yar Zar, whose huge smile each evening and great drink recommendations made our evenings that extra bit special. ;)
We recognise that the cruise wasn’t the same experience for everyone. Last-minute itinerary changes meant the ship once had to leave earlier than expected, so some guests missed it and had to be taken by coach to the next stop. Longer coach journeys were also needed to deliver parts of the itinerary as plans changed. We understand that the changes and delays were very frustrating for some guests and affected their enjoyment of the cruise.
For us, the team, the ship, the food, the entertainment and the chance to discover these places made it a truly special week.
We’ve come home with lovely memories and would recommend the cruise to anyone happy to be flexible when river conditions affect the plans, and open to coach trips!
