点评:When we were at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, observing the falls and the Canyon itself, I heard a Mom explaining to her child that “this is the only place in Yellowstone NP that the stone is actually yellow”. Having been to the park many times as a child and as an adult, I had never thought of that before, but It provides a really unique sight, if you’ve never seen it before. I am always awed by the tenacity of the plant & animal life in the canyon—the trees clinging to the rocks & sides of the canyon, the ospreys, ravens and other birds soaring about, the tiny flowers and plants in this large and spacious scene, squirrels & chipmunks scampering along between the trails. The day we were there was sunny with bright blue skies, providing a beautiful contrast to the yellow stone and the green of the trees. The waterfalls are amazing, the river beautiful. There are many viewpoints, each with a different aspect and beauty of its own, and a number of hikes that go down further than the rim and give another different perspective. Being older, we aren’t able to take as many of those walks as we used to, which was somewhat regrettable, but we enjoyed the views we could, and took many pictures. When you go to the park, DO take in as many of the trails and viewpoints as you are able! DO NOT skip the canyon. It is a one of the great sights of the world!
