Calke Abbey的点评
点评：I recently re-joined the National Trust after leaving during Covid. I arrived early as the park opens at 8am, to secure a good parking space and to walk around the estate where there are some derelict outbulidings, before the restaurant, gardens and church opened at 9.30 am. There are some stables and outbuildings that house old artefacts that were beneficial to the successful running of the estate.
The food and drink in National Trust properties is of very good quaity, and as I arrived at opening time, the cheese and blueberry scones had just come out of the oven. I had the sweet option accompanied by a cappuccino.
I then went to the gardens and the church, and there were hardly any people around.
There is a Garden of Imagination which is huge play space for children, which looked fantastic.
The grounds had suffered from the ongoing drought as the grass was a pale yellow. The gardens and flowers were in a good state though. The church was charming and peaceful, and I was there by myself.
When you enter the park, you pay for entry for the park, gardens and church, entry to the house is extra and the ticket office opens around 10am. If you are a member, everything is included, and you no longer need a ticket for house entry, just present your card. There are 28 rooms open to the public now and there are no ,onger timed entries.
This property is unique as it is in the same condition inside and outside as the National Trust acquired it in 1983. There are so many examples of taxidermy, collectables, an 18th century silk tapestry for a bed, art work, toys, furniture, a tunnel to the brewhouse, and peeling paint, cracked plaster and lots of clutter in most rooms.
I ended my visit ti the shop where I bough a jar of lemon curd and a jar of salted caramel spread, which are both moreish, but take me back to my childhood.
I thoroughly recommend a day out at Calke Abbey.

进入公园时，需要购买公园、花园及教堂的入场券；进入主楼则需另外买票。售票处大约在上午10点开始营业。如果您是会员，所有费用都已包含在内，无需再购买主楼的入场券，只需出示会员卡即可。目前有28个房间对公众开放，而且不再实行定时入场制度。这座房产极为独特——其内外部状态与1983年国家信托机构收购时毫无二致。馆内陈列着大量标本、收藏品、一幅18世纪的丝绸床帷、艺术品、玩具和家具；还有一条通往酿酒房的隧道。大多数房间里都有剥落的油漆、开裂的灰泥以及堆积如山的杂物。
参观结束时，我去了商店，买了一罐柠檬酱和一罐咸焦糖酱。这两种食品都十分美味，能让我回想起童年时光。我极力推荐去卡尔克修道院游玩一天。
