Not quite what we expected, but still beautiful
Anderson Japanese Gardens的点评
点评:This is a truly beautiful place. I think our expectations were a little bit off, which means we didn't have quite the experience we had anticipated. However, I don't think it's anyone's fault.
We were on a road trip and just happened to land in Rockford on Father's Day. The gardens were giving all fathers free admission, which of course, added to the crowd in a place that we had hoped would be serene and quiet. The brunch restaurant was utterly jam-packed and extremely noisy. We had imagined that we would sit by the huge glass walls, looking out on all the beautiful foliage, but it was such a madhouse in there, that we just passed on the brunch.
I had read some reviewers suggest that a visitor might want to spend 3-5 hours here. I think that might be a good idea, if the visitor were there on a non-crowd day, and wanted to sit in a quiet place to read or meditate. But since there were many people there on our visit day and since it was actually pouring rain, we elected not to sit on any wet benches. Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our walk through the beautifully landscaped area. I think we spent about 60-90 minutes.
