点评：An Unforgettable Experience — Wonderful Wines, Family History, and Authentic Cretan Hospitality!
We had an absolutely amazing experience at Garakis Winery! The tour and tasting far exceeded our expectations, and this turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of our wine country trip.
We were welcomed by the mother of the two brothers who own the winery, and she was absolutely wonderful. She shared the family’s history, showed us around the winemaking facilities, and explained so much about the property and their wines. Despite the pouring rain and chilly weather, we even ventured into the little garden, where she took the time to share a few more interesting details before we settled inside for our tasting.
As luck would have it, we visited on a day when members of the local community were gathered to make raki, the traditional Cretan grape distillate. The still was right there, and we got to witness everyone grilling food, sharing stories, enjoying each other’s company, and participating in this wonderful local tradition. Some of the people even offered us food from their grill! It was such an authentic slice of Cretan life, and we felt incredibly fortunate to have stumbled upon it.
The tasting itself was fantastic, accompanied by generous and delicious bites of local cheeses and meats. And the wines were outstanding! I have a professional background in the wine industry, now live permanently in Crete, and have visited many wineries. I can confidently say that their Moschato Spinas was among the very best I’ve ever tasted. Absolutely exceptional.
What made this experience so special was the combination of excellent wines, genuine hospitality, family history, and the opportunity to witness a little piece of everyday Cretan culture. It felt so much more personal than a typical winery visit.
This is one of those experiences I know I’ll remember for years to come. I cannot recommend Garakis Winery highly enough!
