Best Birding Lodge of Our Trip
Reserva Mashpi Amagusa的点评
点评：My wife and I spent 2 weeks birding in western Ecuador and Reserva Mashpi Amagusa was the best place we stayed. Here's why:
1. The birds are plentiful, the feeders always well attended, and the site has many special species that are easier to see here.
2. Sergio, the owner will help you find the birds you're looking for and his guiding is included in the nightly rate. He's as skilled as any "professional" guide, though he doesn't speak much English.
3. The accommodations are very nice. Not luxurious but who cares? The rooms open up to two large decks where most of the feeders are so you always have something to see right outside your door.
4. The food (also included in the very reasonable nightly rate) was well prepared and tasty. There's also none of the uncomfortable, formal service you get at the more expensive lodges.
5. Janeth, who does a little bit of everything there (correspondence, meal service, cleaning and guiding) speaks English well and can help arrange other services (drivers and visits to other locations). She was always available to help, unlike what we experienced at some of the expensive lodges birders go to.
6. There's a great canopy tower! This was a surprise because it seems to be a rarity in this part of Ecuador. It's always a great experience to be at eye-level with birds you strain to see from the ground. And the view is beautiful!
We stayed for 3 nights. Most birders come here just for the day to see the specialties. They only have 8 rooms so it wasn't crowded at all. Because of all the reasons above and the reasonable price, this is the kind of place we would stay at again for up to a week to more fully appreciate it. They can take you to nearby areas (once again, for a very reasonable price) where you can see more specialties of the area.

6. 这里有个很棒的树冠塔！这让我们很惊喜，因为在厄瓜多尔这个地区似乎很少见。能和那些在地面上费力才能看到的鸟儿们平视，总是一种很棒的体验。而且景色也美极了！
