点评：Waterville Golf Links was simply spectacular and one of the highlights of our golf trip through Ireland. We were extremely fortunate with the weather, with blue skies, sunshine and wonderful visibility, which allowed us to really appreciate just how beautiful this piece of County Kerry is. The course winds naturally through the dunes with the Atlantic, Ballinskelligs Bay and the surrounding mountains providing an extraordinary backdrop. It is classic links golf, firm and fast in places, with plenty of variety and enough wind and contours to make you think about almost every shot.
What I particularly liked about Waterville was that the scenery never overwhelmed the golf. It is a genuinely excellent course, with strong holes throughout and a terrific finishing stretch. The 17th, Mulcahy’s Peak, may provide the best perspective of all. I took the short 360-degree video included with this review from there, and it gives a much better sense than photographs can of the scale of the course, the dunes, the water and the surrounding countryside. You can virtually see the entire links from that one spot.
A memorable golf course in a spectacular setting, made even better by one of those rare perfect Irish weather days. Waterville absolutely belongs on any serious golfer’s Ireland itinerary, and I would happily play it again.
