A lovely Summer hiking area close to Merano/Meran.

点评：Meran’s ski area makes a great trip out from the town during the Summer. The no.1 bus (and a couple of other routes) connects the station and town centre with the cable car base station. At the top of the cable car, there is a pleasant restaurant, called CUBIS. There is also a smaller cable car that goes up from there to a higher altitude.
There is a massive network of hikes you can do, ranging from fairly easy (mums with pushchairs / strollers) to very arduous climbs, only for the very fit. And there are several mountain restaurants dotted about. Waidmannalm is a nice restaurant which is about 45 minutes hike from the top of the cable car.
The only criticism I have is that there isn’t a lot of information about different options and routes and the paper hiking map leaflet isn’t as clear as it could be and doesn’t always correspond very clearly with the trail signs on the ground.
