You'll feel it's a small museum when you use it, but the entrance fee and the threshold for the art on display are low

点评：砧公園内にある小規模な美術館です。外観から、展示室に利用されるスペースは広めに設定されていると感じるかもしれませんが、実際に利用すると、1階及び2階にある展示室は、外観からのイメージと比較すると小さいように感じるでしょう。展示内容によっては、パーティション等を活用してさらに狭くなることがあるため、特に休日を中心に混雑することがあります。
近現代のアートをメインに展示していることが多く、また、いわゆる世界的に著名なアーティストの作品を展示する機会が極めて少ないのも特徴です（勿論、人もしくは場合によっては著名なアーティストの作品が展示されることがあります）。敷居を低めに設定した上で、アートを身近に感じてもらうのが主な目的のように感じます。それもあってか、美術館としては拝観料は安いです。エレベーターや要所要所にスロープもあるため、車椅子等の障碍を持つ方でも気軽に利用できます。
1階には、通路を跨いでレストランがあります。

From the exterior, you may feel that the spaces used for the exhibition rooms are spacious, but when you actually use the museum, you'll find that the exhibition rooms on the first and second floors seem small compared to the image from the exterior. Depending on the contents of the exhibits, the rooms may be even smaller with the use of partitions, etc., and thus may be crowded, especially on holidays.
The main exhibits are modern and contemporary art, and there are also very few opportunities to exhibit works by so-called world-renowned artists (of course, in some people's or cases, famous artists' works may be exhibited). It seems to me that the main purpose of the museum is to make people feel familiar with art by setting a low threshold for visitors. This may be one of the reasons why the admission fee is inexpensive for an art museum. Elevators and ramps are available at key points, making it easy for visitors with disabilities, such as wheelchairs, to use the museum.
