点评：The Steppenwolf Theatre Company is a nationally recognized Chicago theater company founded in 1974 by Gary Sinise, Jeff Perry and Terry Kinney in a grade school in Highland Park, Illinois and now is located in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood at 1650 North Halsted Street. In 1991, after occupying several theatres in the city, it moved into its own purpose-built complex with three performing spaces, the largest seating 550. An ensemble cast theatre company with actors, playwrights, producers and directors in its membership, its past and present ensemble includes such notables as John Malkovich, Laurie Metcalf, Joan Allen, Tracy Letts, Carrie Coon, Glenn Davis, Dennis Farina, John Mahoney, Amy Morton, John C. Reilly, Rondi Reed, Anna D. Shapiro, Jon Michael Hill, Namir Smallwood, Austin Pendleton and Frank Galati. I managed to squeeze into the theatre to see Steppenwolf's current production, Suzan-Lori Parks' Pulitzer Prize winning "Top Dog/Underdog," originally staged at the Public Theatre in 2001 and now, 25 years later, receiving a production at Steppenwolf that mirrors the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of 2023. This production features the same set, costume and sound designers as the New York show but the play now stars two of the Steppenwolf Company's most prominent ensemble members, Glenn Davis and Namir Smallwood. It's a realistic kitchen sink family drama about two brothers, one (Davis) who has forsworn his past of conning people with fast-handed three-card monte scams, and the young sibling (Smallwood) who wishes to lure his brother back into that life. One is named Lincoln and the other is named Booth. See where this is going? The play moves between the comic and dramatic and -- you come and see for yourself -- even includes a scene where the brothers rehearse the death of Lincoln. Well, it did win a Pulitzer Prize.
