点评:I think this was an expensive visit for our particular tastes at £20 each.
If you love repeat oil paintings of posh people in fancy clothes/religious scenes/woodland and scenery, you’re in for a real treat.
The Vivienne Westwood exhibit was well presented but much smaller than we imagined.
The museum would be better described as a gallery of art collections rather than a Museum. There are endless cabinets of cups, vases, plates, bowls and misc ceramics and some silverware but between that and the cranking your neck to see the painted art I lost all power of endurance. For the right people this is a 5/5. For us, we couldn’t be more bored. We love antiques, of which there were a few pieces to soften our disappointment, plus the cafe and gift shop were particularly good.
What I will say is the showstopper piece, the silver swan was worth the price ticket on its own as a one off and we found it strangely moving to watch, but get there early. It activates once a day at 2pm. You need to be there by 1:30 to get a seat where you can see! It gets really busy.
The lady winding the swan and talking to the audience was superb though. Knowledgeable and indulgent of 100 repeat questions. Loved her! So professional and passionate. Glad I went, wouldn’t go twice.
