A beautiful Baroque church whose tower offers stunning views of Porto!

点评：Igreja dos Clérigos, known in English as Clerigos Church or the Church of the Clergymen, is a beautiful Baroque church built in the mid-18th century. It is notable for its gilded interior woodwork, its gorgeous marble altarpiece, and the architect Nicolau Nasoni's crypt, but its most striking part is the 75-metre-tall bell tower, which is a prominent feature of the city's skyscape and is one of Porto's most popular symbols. While it's worth exploring just the church and its museum, you really ought to take the time to go up the tower as it offers magnificent views of the city.
Entry to the main part of Clerigos Church is free but you have to buy a ticket to access the museum and the bell tower. Standard tickets cost €10, but you can also get cheaper €5 tickets for access to the tower on special dates during Easter, the summer and the Christmas season. There are also combined tickets that include entry to the Palacio da Bolsa (Stock Exchange Palace) and Museu da Misericórdia do Porto (€25) or the Serralves Museum (€27,20). If you're more interested in history, you could get the former, but if you'd like to see some modern art and a beautiful park, the latter might be more suitable for you.
My visit to Clerigos church and tower was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my trip to Porto so I recommend that you don't miss the opportunity to explore this stunning baroque church. Make sure you give yourself at least an hour to properly enjoy it.
