点评：One of the best museum experiences I have ever had. Our private tour, for 3 euros, provided an engaged, kind, professional guide who succeeded in effective environmental education. In other words, I learned while having fun. I highly recommend taking a tour. The exhibits, architectural design, clean and well maintained building, and professional staff demonstrate a well-executed concept. Really, don't miss this. Two practical notes. One, the design is quite dark (like a volcano) and this was tough for a morning visit with jetlag; I'd go in the afternoon or later in your visit if you are traveling from the US. Secondly, it is a beautiful walk to the center, but they do allow you to drive to the center if you have small children, and--certainly, given the policies of the Azores--if you are elderly or have a disability. Just contact them and ask about this as it might require a bit of coordination to open the gate; I believe they will be more than happy to assist. The building itself had a wide layout and there were no steps to the entrance or inside, and the bathroom was fairly roomy.
