点评："Teleférico do Funchal" (Funchal cable car) was built starting from 1999. It started operations in 2000. The length of the cable car line is 3,173 meters (1.97 miles) and the height difference is 560 meters (1837 feet). The journey takes around 15 minutes
The cable car from Funchal to Monte is an alternative to the bus with the same destination. If you use the cable car, you will have great views of the city of Funchal and of the valley you cross, but at a far larger price (22 Euro return ticket for adults in May 2026). You can also buy one-way tickets, and do the other way by bus. There are also cars with glass bottom, but these are even more expensive (+10 Euros).
There can be loooooooooong queues at the departing station, especially with cruisers in the harbour. I found a small queue by going there early in the morning, at around 9:00h.
