An exceptional narrowboat holiday without the hard work!

点评：We are a couple in our 80’s, reasonably fit and celebrating our diamond wedding anniversary this year. We’ve had many wonderful narrowboat holidays but, regrettably, felt it was time to give up around 15 years ago. For one of our celebrations we really wanted to get back to the canals again but research only turned up typical hotel boats, where the potential regimentation was well away from our dream!
Then we came upon Dragonfly Canal Cruises’ web-site and it seemed to be precisely what we were looking for – This couldn’t be true could it? But it was!
Paul runs his comfortable, modern boat with all mod. cons. on the Leicester Branch of the Grand Union Canal. He is a trained cordon bleu chef as well as being a very experienced narrowboat skipper. We spent 6 days with him overseeing our steering the boat whenever we wanted, working the locks, tying up, and relaxing alongside the beautiful countryside with well-chosen mooring spots.
Paul demonstrated his “chef”ing skills by cooking us lunch and evening meal every day and, after a hard day on the canal it was sublime to sit with our feet up, supping a G&T, while the cooking smells gently eased down the boat. The food was excellent and put most of our local restaurants to shame.
We have nothing but praise for Paul. He never seemed to tire and was always there when you needed something. After he’d washed and cleared up in the evening, he would disappear home and leave us peacefully on the boat to relax, sleep and get up to a shower and continental breakfast. Then he would arrive and off we went again!
Paul was always very friendly but highly professional. Not only did we enjoy the adventure as a holiday but felt we had had an authentic, positive experience of canal use. Thanks for a great holiday, Paul, one that will stay in our memories.

保罗总是那么友善，却又如此专业。我们不仅享受了一次精彩的假期，更感受到了一次真正意义上的、令人愉悦的运河体验。保罗，感谢你为我们带来如此美好的假期，这段经历将永远铭刻在我们心中。
