点评：Quiz. The Ingram scandal. Performances 11-19 September 2026.
I recently visited the Little Theatre to watch their latest production, which is Quiz by James Graham, based on the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire scandal of the early noughties. Directed by Michelle Martin.
This is a thought provoking and ambitious project, with some of the most complex technical requirements of any production I have seen, amateur or professional. I was captivated by the realism with which the cast and crew recreated the television studio of a live broadcast. The set doubles as a courtroom in which defence and prosecution barristers examine the evidence for and against the Ingrams.
A marvellous feature of the production is that audience members are invited to vote guilty or not guilty using an easily downloaded app on their phones.
There is a vote at the end of Act One, when 97% of the audience voted guilty following the presentation of the case for the prosecution. By the end of Act Two, following the defence barrister's summation, this had changed to an almost 50/50 split!
The actors take on multiple roles and are very professional, varying moments of laughter and tension. For example the actor who plays Chris Tarrant also plays three other quiz show hosts in short audience participation scenes from Bullseye, The Price is Right and Take Your Pick.
I strongly recommend a visit to see the play. I came away having all my preconceptions about the Ingrams challenged.
