Siso Spice Farm的点评
点评：We visited Siso Spice Farm during our trip to Zanzibar, choosing it because it is relatively small and had excellent reviews. We booked the tour ahead of our trip, but communication before arrival was quite challenging. In the end, our hotel kindly helped us confirm the details, including the pick‑up time.
The driver arrived as agreed, and upon reaching the farm we were greeted by the manager. Although we had already specified the type of tour we wanted during booking, we were asked to choose again on arrival. When we confirmed we wanted the cooking class, we were told we would be preparing a fish curry—even though we had clearly mentioned in advance that our family does not eat fish. It felt as though the information provided during booking had not been considered. We were also told that kids don’t pay but they charged us half-price for our daughter.
Once the tour began, however, the experience itself was genuinely enjoyable. The spice tour was excellent: our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the learning fun. The cooking class was also lovely. The women demonstrating the recipes were warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed and authentic.
A highlight for our daughter was the coconut tree demonstration. One of the staff climbed the tree and later crafted sunglasses, a crown, earrings, and even a frog necklace from leaves. She was absolutely delighted with these handmade gifts.
We learned a lot and truly enjoyed the tour and cooking class. The main opportunity for improvement is the booking and communication process, which was poor and could easily be made clearer and more reliable. We understand language barriers can play a role, but better coordination would make the experience smoother for visitors.
One additional point worth noting: The tour is relatively expensive (USD 20 per adult, plus USD 35 for transport). However, the guide is not employed by the farm and relies entirely on tips. This creates an awkward situation where you’ve already paid a significant amount for the tour but still feel morally obliged to give a substantial tip to the person who actually delivers most of the experience.
