Our friend Marco made all the difference in our enjoyment of Italy and birding

点评：We loved our time with Marco! He showed us areas that tourists seldom see. We began our time at our villa near the vineyards and olive grove looking in unexpected places for particular birds. We then left for the lake and explored areas off the beaten paths. The following day we went to the mountains and climbed way up high, where we had the joy of a very special Harrier. The bird was perched on a large rock and was eating a snake. Next we walked around a marsh where we saw herons and many other wading birds. Wild flowers and lush green plants lined our paths. Both of our full days included a delicious stop at the local restaurants with delightful entrees for lunch. We learned about the most bio diverse country in Europe from our friend Marco who faithfully carried his large scope to help us see what he spotted. As a photographer I particularly enjoyed his patience all along the way. Next time we visit a different part of Italy, he will be our guide for the third time. It was easy to plan ahead for our trip and to make the most of our time together.
