A Hidden Gem Zoo – Well-Kept, Family-Friendly, and Better Than the Big Names

点评：I We visited today with two children and five adults, and honestly, it’s an absolute gem of a place. Despite not being one of the UK’s major zoos, it’s incredibly well-kept and modern. I’ve been to some of the biggest zoos in the country, and I actually preferred this one over all of them.
Parking is ample and free. It’s a gravel car park, but still easy enough to walk on. There are also disabled parking spaces closer to the entrance, which is helpful for wheelchair users.
At the entrance, you’ll find toilets and the café, with additional toilets located further around the zoo if needed. We visited on a wet and colder day, but the layout offers good protection from the wind, which made a big difference.
The animals are generally easy to spot. Of course, some were hiding—which is to be expected and out of the zoo’s control—but overall, the layout makes viewing straightforward and enjoyable.
The enclosures are well presented, and it’s clear the animals are well cared for.
There are both indoor and outdoor play areas, well positioned with plenty of seating nearby, making it easy for families to relax while the kids play.
The café wasn’t busy during our visit, though it was a quieter day. I imagine it might struggle during peak times. Food is on the expensive side, which is expected in places like this—toasties were very nice but priced at around £7 each. It’s self-service, which felt a bit unusual given that tables are numbered.
I couldn’t find a menu online, so I’ve shared one here for reference, though prices may change over time.
The gift shop is also on the pricier side, but not the most expensive I’ve seen.

我在网上找不到菜单，所以在这里分享一份供参考，不过价格可能会随时间变化。
