点评:We arrived in the afternoon and asked if we could just camp. We were told yes and paid 10,000 Ar each. A guide showed us a simple campsite next to rice fields and a river for water, which was fine for us. We clearly said (in French, English, and German) that we only wanted to camp for now and might decide later about visiting the reserve.
While setting up, many kids from the village gathered and watched us constantly, which felt quite uncomfortable. We decided to leave the next morning. Lemurs (cattas) were already visible around the campsite anyway.
Both in the evening and again at 6am the next morning, the guide tried to push us into doing a tour. We clearly declined and said we were leaving.
Then suddenly we were told we had to pay park and guide fees because we had “already seen lemurs” and that the campsite was apparently inside the reserve (which was never explained before).
When we went to the road/office to clarify, around 20 men were waiting for us. The situation became very aggressive: we were surrounded, people got very close, touched us, took photos of our faces, and shouted. We felt very unsafe.
We called a local contact who advised us to just pay and leave, as involving police would not help. While on the phone, the group continued to pressure us and did not give us space.
We ended up paying just to get out of the situation.
Very disappointing and honestly quite frightening experience.
