点评:We stopped here around 10:30 in the morning. Make sure to check the Facebook page or website; the hours had changed since I had checked the week before due to Covid.
There’s a closed gate right next to the parking lot; you wait there until the builder’s granddaughter (an older woman) comes to let you in. I’d recommend bringing the exact amount of cash you need to get in. Unlike a few other reviewers, I did not think she was grumpy; she was friendly to us. I could see how she has the potential to get grumpy though. Remember, this is her family’s home, and one of them still currently lives there!
Once we entered, she gave us a 5 minute talk about the house, and we were free to enter the house and wander the grounds.
“Castle” is definitely a misnomer, as the house is quite small. There’s 4 rooms downstairs, and then 3 or 4 upstairs you can tour. The rooms are simple but beautiful: lots of natural wood, and decorated with shells.
The yard is likewise beautiful, with birdhouses and sculptures made of rocks and shells. Like the house, the yard is small.
The entire experience took us about 20 minutes. Definitely worth it.
