We recently made a trip to Myrtle Beach, and on our way back we made a point to stop in Mount Airy, North Carolina, to visit The Andy Griffith Museum. We are so glad we did! 😎
This was such a fun, enjoyable, and nostalgic experience. From the moment we walked in, it felt like stepping back into Mayberry. The museum had videos playing with clips and memories from The Andy Griffith Show, including Gomer, Goober, Floyd, Opie, Barney, Aunt Bee, and the entire cast that made the show so special.
The museum also gives a nice background on Andy Griffith’s life, his acting career, and the many accomplishments of this incredible man. It felt like a reflection of a life well lived. Andy Griffith never seemed to be pulled off course by Hollywood, but instead kept his heart, values, and path pointed in a positive direction.
The only thing that would have made the visit better is if Aunt Bee had been there serving her famous apple pie!
Admission was very reasonable at $10 per adult, and it was well worth the stop. Anyone who enjoys classic television, Mayberry memories, or wholesome American history will appreciate this museum.
While you are there, be sure to go across the street and visit the Siamese Twins Museum as well. It is another very interesting part of Mount Airy history, and you can purchase a combination admission for both museums.
We highly recommend this stop. You will not be disappointed!💯
