Howth - a wonderful day trip from Dublin

点评：Howth, a charming place near Dublin in Ireland, can truly surprise you with its unexpectedly vibrant atmosphere. I visited in April 2026 and was absolutely amazed by the rich, colorful nature - blossoming flowers and trees, palm trees, grassy hills, and simply marvelous seaside views.
The extensive heathland and cliff walks, with sweeping views over Dublin Bay, completely took my breath away. We were lucky to have beautiful, sunny, and warm weather - though it was quite windy, especially up on the hills when we walked toward the lighthouse. Still, it was absolutely worth it.
At times, I had the strong impression that I had traveled to the Canary Islands rather than Ireland. The small bays with stony beaches, surrounded by high, wooded hills, strongly reminded me of Dubrovnik, Croatia. And the sea - shifting colors from cerulean to bright blue and then deep navy - was mesmerizing. The bushes covered in beautiful yellow flowers, along with tulips in delicate shades of white, yellow, deep red, and even nearly black, made the scenery feel almost unreal.
Howth Castle also deserves a special mention. It belonged to the St. Lawrence family and their relatives from the 12th century until 2019. The castle is partly in ruins, which only adds to its charm. Spending time in the shadow of its walls creates an incredibly authentic atmosphere, making it easy to imagine the days when noble knights and ladies lived there. Since it’s also a popular filming location, we even saw a film crew at work - it was fun to chat with them for a moment.
