Letterkeen Loop Walk的点评
点评：I recently did the Letterkeen Loop Walk in Mayo as part of the Dark Skies Friday night experience, and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish.
The tour guides—Georgie, Molly, and Jed—were brilliant. They were not only incredibly friendly and welcoming, but also so knowledgeable. We learned loads about astronomy, as well as the local flora, fauna, and wildlife, which really added depth to the whole experience.
The walk itself was very easy and relaxed, making it accessible for everyone. There was a lovely, social atmosphere throughout—everyone chatted, and it felt really fun and informal rather than overly structured. Despite it being a “dark skies” walk, it actually wasn’t that dark; there was no artificial light, but it was still bright enough to clearly see where you were going. The sky was a little bit cloudy, but we could still make out plenty of constellations, along with some planets and different stars.
One of the highlights was stopping at one of the little bothies. We had a warm drink, chatted together, and learned more about the area—especially the history of the bothies and the families who once lived in the original stone cottages in the National Park. That part really gave a sense of connection to the place.
Afterwards, we all returned to the bus, which brought us back to Newport. It rounded off what was a really amazing evening.
I would highly recommend this experience to anyone—whether you’re interested in astronomy, nature, or just looking for a unique and enjoyable evening out.
