A small gallery known for it collection of 19th century British paintings

点评：The gallery is located in a medium-sized original gallery building, an imposing 19th century structure. The gallery is very impressive inside - it includes rooms with wood-paneled walls and several magnificent skylight galleries showing their best art pieces. The art gallery is known for its good collection of 19th century British paintings bequeathed by several important benefactors such as Cartwright, but at the moment of my visit it exhibited a relatively small portion of it – still very interesting and arguably the part of the museum that makes it worth a visit from outside Wolverhampton. The rest of the space is used to diversify its art presentation and includes a bit of old masters and British art of the 18th century, and a lot of 20th-century art, some quite interesting. I hope the addition of their new wing will reduce the competition for space between 19th and 20th century art and will add space to display a larger part of the Gallery’s 19th Century collection. If you are visiting Birmingham, the Art Gallery is one of several landmarks that make Wolverhampton a good target for a half-day trip. The city also has many interesting buildings and street art.
