Great day out.
切斯特动物园的点评
点评：We arrived for opening at 10am and left at close at 4.30pm and we still didnt get a chance to see everything so would definitely recommend planning for a full day and really trying to plan a path around the park if seeing everything is important to you. We had booked to hire a mobility scooter for one member, booked early Sunday for a Monday visit and had a call later on the Sunday confirming the requirement. Staff were helpful directing us where to go and giving a demo of how to use it. Being able to hire this for free was a godsend and I genuinely dont believe I would have managed the day out without it. When returning it you are given the option to pay a contribution towards it for the upkeep and maintenance and this was absolutely worth it if it allows people to still be able to enjoy a day out. Some of the indoor exhibits arent the easiest to get in/out through the doors/curtains but there were always people willing to help and we only had one really difficult manoeuvre exiting an exhibit - though I forget which one.
Zoos can be expensive, but the price of this one feels justified in how much there is to see and do.
For being a random monday the zoo was relatively busy, but not so much that you struggled to see animals. The red pandas exhibit was the only exception since one was quite active and walking about the ground which had folk gathering and blocking the viewing window which the person on the scooter needed to be able to see.
We had a small snack in the bembe cafe and thought the price was reasonable and the food was very tasty.
Fraser, the ranger who gave the rhino talk was really engaging and despite there only being us and 2 other people at the start of his talk he didnt dampen his enthusiasm.
Its one of the best zoos in the UK I think.
