点评:We visited Harewood House on a weekday in September and I was amazed at how busy it was. We very much enjoyed our visit around the house and attended a very interesting talk in the state bedroom with the Chippendale bed given by a very knowledgeable guide (Fergus I believe) who knew his subject thoroughly. We also really enjoyed the Cecil Beaton exhibition, which we hadn’t expected to see. We probably spent a couple of hours in the house which is much longer than we would usually expect to spend visiting a stately home, but there was so much to see and very interesting and informative guides to speak to. The gardens (as far as we could see them because some were closed for restoration work) were also very impressive. The only slight criticism we had was that in the extensive laundry house, there was a large rectangular box in the middle of the room with no written information anywhere detailing what it was or what it was for, which is a pity because a lot of people in there were obviously interested to know and were debating between themselves what it was. There was no guide in that room either so nobody to ask, which was a shame when all the rooms in the house have so much information in them. All in all a most enjoyable day out.
